To be fair (yes, I'm capable of it)

A wise friend and blogger pointed me in the direction of FactCheck.Org's page debunking Palin rumors.

Also uncharacteristic of me, I have to say that Obama's unfortunate choice of cliches (I HOPE it was unintentional)...

bothered me a lot more than Biden's calling Palin out for courting parents of special needs children while shooting down stem cell research. Maybe I'm being thick, but I thought Biden had a point. And yes, I know McCain supports stem cell research, but I HEAR that Miss Thang does not...but maybe that's a RUMOR!

Wise

I almost sent a link on that to you the other day--but I figured you find it sooner or later.

As far as Biden goes--he's for destroying embryos which is not much more troublesome to him than destroying a Down Syndrome child. It just so happens that Biden and McCain voted the same to overturn Bush's very conservative embryo bill.

Biden also doesn't seem to mind to claim Catholicism and doesn't seem to get that the Catholic church is firmly against stem-cell research.

Palin

Hey Bubblin',
Obama didn't call that woman a pig. He was using a common phrase — more often used by Republicans — and now they want to act like it's some kind of sexist statement. R U kidding me?!
Now if he had said George Bush in lipstick and a skirt it would have been true and funny! :-)
The Republicans believe they own lipstick, pigs and women in this election. They own none and they certainly don't own change.
You know I'm not usually political, but this has got my blood boiling. If the McCain/Palin ticket wants to be outraged about something, maybe it would be about how they want to turn Palin into some kind of fragile girl who can't take punches. She running in the big leagues. If she wants to throw punches (and she has, some hard ones, too) she better darn well be prepared to take them... they are coming!
OK, enough about the stupid stuff. Are you excited about the baby?
How is the sweet baby? All his little clothes are so cute. You are a great mommy. I can't wait for him to arrive!
I love you and miss you bunches!

Karen Bates - twice in one summer!

It's like Christmas! You read me. You REALLY read me! :)

At first I was unsure, but I'm with you on this one. It was a (very) unfortunate choice of words, even though everyone uses that phrase. Moreover, if the brilliant news networks hadn't played her lipstick soundbite over and over and OVER in the last couple weeks, it may not have been a parallel drawn at all.

Do you think Charles Gibson/ABC will ask her any good questions tonight?

Baby: he's coming. We're excited (and scared shitless). But very happy! :) Are ya gonna trek out to Arizona to meet him? Heh. Don't worry, I wouldn't come out here by choice either! :)

unfortunate choice of words?!

Certainly NOT an unfortunate choice of words. We can't go tiptoeing through the election because nobody wants to hurt or offend Palin. She's in the big leagues. As Judge Judy says "The questions are only going to get harder from here." It doesn't get any easier and if she and John McCain think she's a pig, than so be it. If they were focused on the issues they wouldn't be worried about somebody calling her a pig.
Her interview with Charlie Gibson shows how little she knows. You can't bs your way out of everything. She is very condescending, too.
This is the bottom line: I could careless about lipstick and pigs. What I do care about is an economy that is in the toilet, gas prices that are soaring and people losing their homes. Let's talk about that. The media is to blame, too. They should have let the Republicans scream in the dark. At some point when you keep crying wolf, nobody will answer.
Palin is GWB in lipstick and a skirt.
I know we're on the same side, but you going soft on me! :-0
I love you and yes, if I can scrape together some dollars I will come and spoil the little one.
PS I don't change diapers!

I MISSED the Charles Gibson interview

I cannot believe it either. We were in our prenatal class and stupid Direct TV has so many GD "ABC"'s that I recorded one that we don't have (grrrr). Where can I see the re-broadcast????

The Catholic Church's DIRECTIVES

are firmly against stem cell research, but many Catholics (some secretly) are not. Hard to be against something that saves lives out of DISCARDED embryos that didn't have a chance to begin with.
